about

Tsukuru, Inc. helps entertainment companies bring Japanese content and intellectual property (IP) to the world. We provide comprehensive support for their overseas businesses, from planning and producing exhibitions and experiential events to content distribution, merchandising, and the development of stores and cafés.

We understand the cultures, market conditions, consumer values, and trends of each country and region. By using both online and offline channels, we create new connections between IP and audiences around the world.

Our work goes beyond simply taking Japanese content overseas. We protect the distinct worlds and values of each IP, communicate their appeal in ways suited to each market, and help them become enduring favorites among local audiences.

As a first step, in 2024 we presented The Story of Studio Ghibli exhibition in Shanghai with authorization from Studio Ghibli and the cooperation of Alibaba Pictures. The exhibition was connected to Hayao Miyazaki’s film The Boy and the Heron. We also supported the film’s distribution in China.

Building on our work in Shanghai, Tsukuru is now expanding across Asia and into other countries and regions.

We will continue to work with overseas partners to create new entertainment experiences. Through these efforts, we aim to bring Japan’s films, animation, characters, and other outstanding entertainment content to more people across borders, creating lasting value and business opportunities.

Connecting Japanese IP with the world and sharing its value globally.

That is the role Tsukuru, Inc. strives to fulfill.

Playstation5 LAUNCH EVENT

SONY INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT

In May 2021, we produced the launch event for Sony’s PlayStation 5 in China. We staged a large celebration for fans across a 2,000-square-meter venue.
From an outdoor 3D projection mapping show to an interactive tunnel, product theater, immersive theater recreating a medieval world, and PS5 play areas, we brought the console’s arrival in China to life through entertainment on a grand scale.

FROM THE PAST TO THE FUTURE

Adidas NMD

To mark the launch of a new adidas product, we created an interactive space around the theme “From the Past to the Future.”
We designed the storefront to evoke the Colosseum in Rome and used projection mapping at night to create a contrast with its daytime appearance. Inside, visitors could touch lasers to change the visuals and music in front of them, ultimately remixing their own track and taking it home on their phones.

B.A 6th LAUNCH EVENT

POLA

For the launch of POLA’s sixth generation B.A premium skincare range, we created a digital art exhibition.
Working with floral artist Azuma Makoto, we presented his work as four distinct digital art installations in four rooms. The experience immersed visitors in the world of B.A, helped them discover the products’ appeal, provided a setting for influencers to share their experiences, and supported subsequent purchases.

OCEAN

In July 2019, we presented OCEAN BY NAKED at the Shanghai World Financial Center. Using 1,600 square meters on the fourth floor and the observation deck, we displayed 14 works exploring the sea as the source of life. Visitors journeyed vertically from 6,000 meters beneath the ocean to the sky. The interconnected works told the story of a mysterious underwater world and captivated audiences.

Meet Dunhuang

We digitally restored historical documents and materials related to Dunhuang, expressing its grandeur and long history through digital art.
Dunhuang is a place where diverse cultures met and gave rise to a distinctive culture. The sculptures and murals of its Buddhist cave temples reflect the characteristics and artistic development of different eras. We brought the vivid original colors of the sculptures and murals in the Mogao Caves back to life on screen, captivating visitors with this ambitious approach.
